The Sharkproject association has been contributing to the conservation of sharks since 2002 - thanks to the new customised website and the associated online shop, it will be doing this even more efficiently in future. sharkproject.org

Challenges

Sharkproject had already set up a fully developed website, which was designed and built under the guidance of dedicated volunteers. However, due to the constant growth of the organisation, this concept is slowly reaching its limits. The creation and further development of the website should therefore be professionalised. This will allow Sharkproject employees to focus even more on their campaigns and their content. This is where Chili Digital comes into play.

Solutions

We designed a new website for our client. This was first rebuilt using HTML, CSS and JavaScript and then integrated into the new Umbraco CMS environment. The CMS uses the C# programming language. The solution was programmed almost entirely by hand, which allows a great deal of customisation on the website. For example, a glossary is stored in the backend, in which any number of words can be saved. As soon as such a glossary word appears on a web page, it is highlighted visually and a pop-up appears explaining the term in more detail.

There is also an online shop, which is now part of the Sharkproject website. The shop is based on the tried-and-tested e-commerce software from Shopify. A template was first selected that matches the look and feel of the website and then the shop was designed accordingly. Other tools used on the new website are Umbraco Forms and Ajax.
